Capstone Architecture!

Finished the house and had a gallery walk. Got many positive comments from the other engineers!

All the steps and point totals below!

Step 1 (2 out of 2 points)
  • The scope of this project is to build a two story house on stilts.
  • We're going to try to model the entire house, however, we cannot model any surrounding features such as the beach, ocean, or trampoline.
  • We plan to build the house on stilts, complete with two floors and a pool on the roof. We also plan to give it a polished look by painting the outside.
Step 2 (2 our of 2 points)
  • Cut short, fluid strokes. Make sure the cuts were straight by using a ruler or another straight edge. We used the back side of the ruler.
  • Our scale was base off of the side of the first wall on the first floor. We utilized the eyeball technique to determine the rest of the proportions.
Step 3 (9 out of 9 points)
  • Client Feedback: We talked to Mr Aldworth after finishing the house, and he told us how amazing it was and that he loved it. In the words of Aldy, "Oh you kids... That's awesome!"
  • Instructor feedback: Mr Olson was fascinated by how we successfully incorporated the stilts into the design of the house. I think he noted the extra work that was needed to complete the design.
  • Student Feedback: In the gallery walk, our fellow engineers said great things about our house. "I liked everything about it" said a peer on a green post-it.
